Nobody takes it seriously at all anymore.
At least not many who aren't ACTUALLY veterans.
First there was the whole flag thing which was very unprofessional and was supposed to be placed on the RIGHT side not the left which was where they placed the state flag. Second the center director made a lovely speech in which he was practically advertising the Job Corps program. To Job Corps students and a couple veterans. Next we have the singer, and dear god did I hate her. What ever happened to singing the national anthem without all those god damned waverings at the end of each line? What happened to the original cut that actually MEANT something and actually was capable of touching people's hearts? Personally i'm going to blame football and their god damned halftime show.
One of the veterans actually read from this piece of paper on the flag spoken from the flag's point of view and I thought to myself DEAR GOD WHO CARES ABOUT THE FLAG?! The flag represents the country but in no way shape or form doesn't it represent our spirit, which is dying by the way. Patriotism is dead now and if i held a fireball pointed at the flag the only persons likely to step in the way are the ones who fought in the old wars.
Also the speakers weren't tuned properly and reverberated constantly whenever someone was speaking and it hurt my head so that pissed me off too. Other than that, my rant is done.

What would you say if you had to shatter your soul to keep sane? How would you live if every day was spent in fear of yourself? If you can understand what that feels like then welcome to my life and may god help you.
That's like, the highest praise I've ever received.
